Cañadon Largo
Cañadon Largo (7,986ha) is located 20km E of Sierra Blanca and has strongly anomalous gold, silver and epithermal gold system pathfinder elements along a 1.7km zone of silicification, quartz veins and breccias. Vein widths of 1m are reported with rock chip assays up to 1.4 g/t Au. Silicified zones reach widths of up to 8m.
In late 2006, early 2007.Mariana drilled 22 diamond drill holes for a total of 2,995 metres at Santa Cruz Joint Venture's Sierra Blanca and Cañadon Largo properties.
Four holes for a total of 472m were completed at Cañadon Largo, a 3.8km vein from which rock chip sampling results of up to 1.6g/t Au, and 238 g/t Ag had been reported. Holes CL 1 and 3 intersected strong vein structures, but gold and silver assays were low. However, hole CL 1 intersected significant pathfinders (Hg to 25 ppm, Sb to 242 ppm, and As to 2720 ppm) between 77.9m and 95.7m suggesting shallow epithermal depth. Mariana believes potential for higher grades could remain at depth.
In view of the encouraging results to date at Sierra Blanca, further exploration is planned for 2008.
